Christmas Trading

What a year. In 2020 I decided to take a leap of faith to turn Little Anvil from a part-time venture into a full-time job (with a little nudge from the pandemic).

Despite the inherent challenges of COVID-19, we have shipped all over the world; with timber beam lights, brackets, lighting and hardware circling their way around the globe, from boardrooms in Canada to cafes in Canberra.

It has been incredible to receive all your support, and now it’s time for a well-deserved break and to spend some much missed time with family, before firing up again in 2021.

Our last day of shipping will be Friday 18th December.

The Balvenie Stories | Whisky And Alement

I’m a Glaswegian living in Melbourne and I’ve been watching as the pandemic has impacted both my home and adopted towns. We’ve been in lockdown in Melbourne for the best part of the last 6 months and it’s affected entire sectors, including the hospitality industry which supports our enviable and much-talked-about bar and restaurant scene.

COVID-19 Update | Little Anvil

The state of Victoria in Australia has recently entered stage 4 restrictions to combat COVID-19, resulting in many businesses temporarily ceasing operations until mid-September.

We are continuing to largely operate as normal, however, for some of our product lines, we are carrying limited stock that cannot be replenished until the lockdown eases.

We have also had to temporarily increase international shipping costs on smaller enveloped items such as nuts, bolts and screws as there have been price increases due to the limited amount of flights and services. Paying a little more means that you should still receive your items in a timely fashion.

Industrial Steel Adaptable Box | Ceiling Rose | Canopy | Enclosure | Junction Box

Our Industrial Steel Adaptable Box Canopy was originally designed for use with our Linear Wood Beam LED Pendant Light No.3. The slimline low voltage light fitting has no onboard facility to house an LED driver or other electronics, so we set about the task of designing a box that would store all of the components we required. It also had to complement the industrial look and feel of the rest of our work. Most adaptable boxes or surface mounted junction boxes are generally made of tasteless white plastic or galvabond steel and have little to zero design aesthetic. They aren’t designed to look good, they’re built for functionality.

LED Strip Anatomy Explained

Most of the places you will visit that sell LED strip, either online or in-person, will dive straight into all different styles they sell with digits, letters and part-numbers such as ‘SMD 5050 60/M RGB 12V’. You’ll get no real explanation as to what it all means or why you would choose one over the other. It can become a confusing and frustrating process without some background knowledge. So, here’s a brief practical overview of what the part numbers mean to the average punter without getting overly technical.
