This portable suction aspirator unit was built in Long Island NY, by the J. Sklar Manufacturing Company in the late 1950s for use within the medical profession.
It has been reworked as a desk lamp, incorporating custom nickel-plated hardware with all of the original fixtures from the unit. All of the existing wiring has been removed, along with some of the pump motor internals to decrease the weight for shipping purposes.
The metal body has beautiful natural weathering and patina, whilst the glass has stood the test of time and is in great condition. All of the original boilerplates still exist and add an aesthetic along with the overall design and typeface used on the plates and bottle that only come from an original item from this era.
This lamp would be perfect for anyone with a love of old medical equipment, for use in a doctors or dentists surgery or for anyone with a slightly macabre sensibility.
