This Ampol Automobilia Desk Lamp has been constructed around a vintage cast iron oil tank cover.
Ampol was an Australian gas and oil company that started in 1936 and later merged with Caltex. The base provides a robust and heavy grounding for the lamp. To continue with the automobilia theme, we have hand fabricated and antiqued a steel club and round cylinder which has been capped with brass bands and electro etched with the original Ampol logo and tag line – ‘Motor Spirit, Motor Oil’.
Custom decorative brass detailing has been hand cut, etched and aged to cap off the band seams. The warmth of the vintage Edison style globes is enhanced by brass and aged steel components of this desk-lamp, making it the ideal addition to any car collectors man (or woman) -cave.
